An interesting thought may not necessarily translate into an interesting screenplay. AA DEKHEN ZARA is a prime example of this statement.

Think about it... A man inherits his grandfather's camera and with the camera comes the ability to see the future. What an idea, Sirji... But AA DEKHEN ZARA is akin to a bottle of soda, which starts off with a lot of energy, but the fizz settles down faster than expected.

AA DEKHEN ZARA had great potential to be a riveting thriller, but halfway through the film, you realize that the writers have run out of ideas. In fact, by the time the film reaches the finale, the viewer is terribly confused [like the writers of this film]. This is one jigsaw puzzle that remains unsolved even after its culmination.

In a nutshell, AA DEKHEN ZARA promises the moon, but what you eventually get in return is merely a mirage.

Ray [Neil Nitin Mukesh], a struggling photographer, has nothing going for him... until he inherits a very special camera from his grandfather which changes his life in a way that he could not have imagined in his wildest dreams.

The power of the camera changes Ray's destiny overnight. His life becomes one big roller coaster ride that takes him from rags to riches and also helps him meet the love of his life, Simi [Bipasha Basu], who is a DJ with a mind of her own. Everything is hunky dory.

As they say with great power comes great responsibility and in Ray's case, also great danger. He must now face up to the dark side of reality and win not only against the evil forces, but also against fate.

Come to think of it, your imagination can run wild with a premise like the one in AA DEKHEN ZARA. But the film runs out of fuel midway.

Director Jehangir Surti has an eye for visuals, but he ought to know that the viewer wants to listen to a good story, told in the most simplistic manner. You ought to be extra careful if you're attempting a suspense thriller. You need to disentangle the knots in such a way that the mystery doesn't remain a mystery in the end. In this case, it still remains a mystery.

15 minutes into the film and you're drawn into Neil's world. You are exhilarated every time he wins a lottery or race. The introduction of the negative force [Rahul Dev] is smartly handled as well. But the plot slackens thereafter.

Let's get specific, the second hour is a problem. The screenplay should've packed some great moments, but the writers seem to take an easy way out. Sample this. While on the run, Neil and Bipasha suddenly break into a dance in a tacky pub. Prior to that they jump from the roof of the hotel and land straight into the pool. The cat and mouse game gets more and more confusing with the finale only adding to the chaos.

Jehangir Surti can't do much since he's saddled with a poor script. Music is the sole saving grace. The songs are youthful and energetic, one of the reasons why AA DEKHEN ZARA has generated tremendous interest. Cinematography is good. The chase and stunts are well canned.

Neil Nitin Mukesh showed great promise in his debut film and you only expect him to climb the ladder in his next release. Sadly, the screenplay doesn't give him that opportunity. Bipasha Basu is alright. She looks great though. Rahul Dev is perfect for the part. Biswajeet [Neil's grandfather] has a tiny role. Sophie Chaudhary adds to the glamour quotient. She doesn't get much scope, frankly. Bobby Vats is okay.

On the whole, AA DEKHEN ZARA had the potential to be an exciting fare, but the post-interval portions prove a deterrent. The fantastic promotion coupled with the popular musical score will ensure ample footfalls in the opening weekend, but the film lacks the stamina to run steadily.

STORY:

Rakesh Omprakash Mehra after the revolutionary Rang De Basanti comes up with his new film Delhi- 6. Rahman did his bit by giving some exceptional tunes and quadrupling the hype. Will this America to Chandni chowk work at the box-office or atleast find place in the hearts of millions as Rakesh's last movie?
This movie can be compared to Ashutosh Gowarikar's Swades in more ways than one as Ashutosh took that movie after the stupendous success of Lagaan and though Swades was a good movie it didn’t come close to his last movie and after the show we have exactly the same reaction on Delhi – 6. The story is about an NRI who comes to his homeland to leave his dying grandmother and falls in love with the people around him. But his life is not going to be easy as the antics of a Monkey man turns the colorful people in the community grey. Will the hero be able to save the day? Or will he return back to US and stay off these troubled streets? Watch it yourself.
With such a wafer thin story line one has to work heavily on the presentation and Rakesh does that but not fully. Diverse people form the community - the middle class heroine who wants to become an Indian idol, flirty photographer, a rich-man who has a weakness for women, a strict no joke father, two naughty and adventurous kids, a joyous and fun-filled jelabi vendor, a sadhu whose antenna can connect to gods’ signals, a helpful loser who is taken for granted by everyone, a grandma who is ready to walk to get the blessings of the Holy cow when she has low blood pressure and just fainted, a rich person who lives his whole life cherishing the love that he lost, an untouchable but righteous woman, a Fakhir who always goes by with a mirror asking people to see the inner-side and many more forms the community. And then there is this Monkey man- who just jumps from one house to another hardly hurting anyone but becomes a dangerous monster thanks to the media hype and the people who use him to get out of their wrong doings. But the director takes more than half the film to draw the character sketch of all and makes you a little fidgety. Rakesh Omprakash Mehra has many grudges against the society, and Rang De Basanti is a proof of the angry man inside him. For his next movie I presume he would have noted down all his grudges in a notebook and tried to choose one but as he was as confused as the heroine of the movie and decided to incorporate all the social issues he can think of and made a single story. Be it untouchability or silly superstitions or the media's thirst for controversies or communal disharmony or woman trade in the society or improper bringing up of children, he has dealt with everything in this 2 ½ hour movie. It does entertain and many scenes deserve applause like the scene involving Ramayan drama. It is a delight to see how Rakesh has incorporated Ramayan in the story and almost all the scenes of Divya Dutta who plays the role of the chirpy cleaner is neatly done.

Technically the movie boasts of a premier work behind the camera by Binod Pradhan, his work, especially the kaala bandar first person deserves more than just some statue. The dialogues are crisp and works fine with the mood of the movie. The art direction needs a pat on the back as we hardly can believe that the whole Chandni Chowk shots are shot on sets. Music is the high-point of the movie with Rahman not just scoring big with the songs but sweeps one off their feet with an international quality background score. The lyrics by Prasoon Joshi are equally brilliant. Editing by P.S.Bharathy is first-rate and the 'Dil Kare Daftan' work is something which has to be seen to be believed. A dream sequence which is a mix of the past and future of the protagonist has many hidden and inner meanings and is shot brilliantly. Acting is of high order with Abhishek bachchan coming up with a cool performance, Rishi Kapoor, Divya Dutta, Waheeda Rahman and Atul Kulkarni are as natural as you and me will ever be and that is the highlight of the movie. All the other supporting casts do their work with dignified brilliance and the two kids are a riot. But on the downside again would be the heroine Sonam Kapoor, who has the power of extracting laughter in an emotional scene which is bad news for this beautiful two film old actress. There is also a surprise special appearance by Amitabh Bachchan which is good. On the whole the movie is an account of Rakesh's grudges against the society, though the intentions are noble the final product does leave you a lot to be desired. Even though the movie will satisfy the audience in more ways than one this social satire looks like a half baked collage of many vital social issues.

Production work for Shah Rukh Khan's film, Dulha Mil Gaya is nearing completion with a possible release in May this year.

Producer Vivek Vaswani’s current film venture, Dulha Mil Gaya (meaning a groom is found) is nearing completion. A large portion of the shoot including the climax scenes focused on Shah Rukh Khan were recently completed.
Only a song sequence involving King Khan remains to be filmed. Whilst that portion will be completed in February 2009, Vaswani has already started post production work on the film.
Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film is a romantic comedy revolving around the lives of the four main characters – Shah Rukh Khan, Susmita Sen, Fardeen Khan and Tara Sharma.
Dulha Mil Gaya is expected to release around April/May 2009. Exact date depends on the Mumbai cricket season.
Distributors are reluctant to release their films during the cricket season as this greatly affects the box office takings.

STORY:
First things first, Anurag Kashyap has taken Dev Das to the next level. Yes this is definitely Devdas of the modern times. Whatever flaws were there in the original story of Devdas has been removed! I guess a lot of people know about the story, so not describing that here.
AK has shown the ego of Dev is a classic way, but then too the good part of the movie is that Paro also has a self respect, she does love Dev, but has an ego as well. The calssic example of this fact was the scene when Paro meets Dev in a hotel, Dev keeps telling her "Galti ho gayi" "I still love you" and in the end of the scene the way she shows Dev his "aukat". And immediately after this scene the director captures her pain very well while she is walking away from him. The two real life incidents incorporated in the movie is the DPPS MMS scandal, and the BMW hit and run cas. the director has done justice to both the incidents, the trauma after it, and how just one incident can spoil your life forever!
The scenes that I really loved, which spoke a thousand words:
1) The scene when Paro wipes her tears and decides to move on...
2) The scene when Dev hugs Chanda and tells her "beta its ok"
3) When Paro shows the aukat of Dev, after her marriage to an older man.
4) when Dev's father dies, he visits back home, he just cries infront of his mom, this is the only time when Dev is seen crying, this is a scene which speaks a lot without a single dialogue. still cant relate to why people in theatre were cribbing over this scene, I think this is one of the best scenes in the entire movie.
5) The end of the movie!
Abhay Deol has done a fabulous job as Dev, Mahie Gill has done justice to the role, as a curious lover girl, who is finding places to make love to Dev!!! and then suddenly matures a lot after "moving on"

A Shah Rukh Khan film is always special. But what does he do when the film is centered on Irrfan Khan, as also conveyed by the title of the film, with him being only in a special appearance? Well, he only goes full-on to make it as commercial as possible by appearing in number of song and dance appearances. Not just that, he also ropes in some of the top heroines in the industry and makes them dance along with him. If in Om Shanti Om, he had opted for Vishal-Shekhar as the composers, for Billu Barber he gives Pritam the responsibility of creating a hardcore commercial score.

Billu Barber has a rocking start to it with songs like 'Marjaani' and 'Love Mera Hit Hit' that are guaranteed chartbusters in the making. Though 'Ae Aa O' is the only number that doesn't quite make a mark, 'Khudaya Khair' brings in a nice feel-good touch to it which keeps the flag high for Billu Barber. On the other hand, 'Jaoon Kahan' and 'Billoo Bhayankar' add on to the situational flavor. While the soundtrack should work well for the film, we are not looking at a Race or a Jannat or a Singh Is Kinng that are being played even till date. Still, from the popularity perspective, Billu Barber should go the Kismat Konnection and Golmaal Returns way by being reasonably successful.

Director Samir Karnik is over the moon after he got an Oscars invite for a copy of the screenplay of 'Heroes' for its archives.
Karnik received the letter from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, informally known as the Oscars, Friday morning.
An elated Karnik told : 'I'm sending them the script right away. I can't believe that the Oscars archives has invited our screenplay. Maybe because it is an original screenplay. That's why they invited it.'
The scripts in the Oscars collection are made accessible for research purposes to student filmmakers, writers and actors.
Impressed with Preity Zinta's performance in 'Heroes', Karnik is all set to cast her in his next film 'Formula No.44'.

The story is of an ambitious small-town girl Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra) who wants to make it big in the fashion industry as a supermodel. In the city of dreams, Mumbai starts her struggle to reach the top. Paving her way through model coordinators, portfolio photographers, talent managers, fashion designers, media moguls and business magnates she finally gets to rule the ramp. Meghna clearly understands than the ramp calls for some attitude but with success her attitude upgrades into arrogance. And this overconfidence gets her tumbling down the slope of success. Welcome To SujjanPur", when for the very first time i heard this name, you know what i said?? I said "Oo come on, what happened to our producers and directors?,
why they are making such type of movies?". after sum time i came to know that Amrita Rao and Shreyas Telpade are playing the lead roles, believe me i thought that why they've accepted to work in this movie?.
But when i personally saw the movie, i loved it so much. than i realized that small budget movies can also Rock the nation if the story and performances are Brilliant. No doubt the story is very simple, but the way its told by the director, is simply amazing. Every actor has done a brilliant job. Especially Shreyas, Amrita, and Divya. They were Fantabolous. On the whole, a very nice and sweet movie, that you can see with your whole family without any hesitation.:-)

I THINK MOVIE IS GOOD AND YOU SHOULD WATCH THIS.
